I didn't do either the Jade Quarry or the overlook and my proph born warrior has Legendary Cartographer so you don't need either of them for the Cantha title.
There is around 103% available to map.
I have no problem with it either way, just saying you certainly don't need them.

If I recall correctly there is only one town that you can't pretty much fully map from the outside anyway, and you can use a shadowstep to get inside there if you're stuck.

Island of Shehkah is the only one left, then.
And for the rest, ALL PvP areas should have a 'visit' mode, like Guild Halls have.
The Host in the PvP outpost should have an option to get to the explorable version of that area.

They do count, but their not required. Still though I like your idea of a visit mode. I know I could get my last .2% for elona with the Island or PvP combat area.(esepcially since texmod shows nothing that I can reach but those two areas) Especially do this for JQ, some days I've seen 12 people on one side but none on the other just trying to map it. Be such an easy fix Anet.

Is the town youre thinking of Amatz Basin? The portion just S.E. of it I have tried for awhile to clear it and just cant. The only way it looks like I could is to get into the restricted area.

Yes, with Eredon Terrace, you can easily get the last spots.
Honestly, this is just a stupid suggestion, since MANY, MANY, MANY people have been able to get cartographer before w/o all those bonus areas.

Many people have gotten these titles just fine. I don't see why you want to make an already mind-numbing simple task easier.

oh hey another person I see troll threads just to say how stupid a suggestion is.
You know a simple signed notsigned would do the trick.
It doesnt matter how many people have done this. the game is 3 years old almost time for people to move on to GW2. Would make sense to make a few things a little easier to obtain before GW2.

Not signed. It's perfectly doable to get GMC without opening out these areas and they're locked for a reason.

I wouldn't normally ever do this, but you approach things with such hostility in almost everything you say - and I don't even know if you realize that you do it. Here's a few reminders from other things you've said to point out hypocrisy....

Ah yes, and here's the kicker. Or does the OP reserve the right to decide which titles should and should not be a challenge? I might have missed that somewhere in the disclaimer...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like I said before, the title is already easy to get. If anything, you pose a huge contradiction by wanting this to be easier. With the survivor title, there is a guaranteed way to screw up, and lots of people had already gotten "screwed" by making their main character prior to the existance of the Survivor title. Shouldn't you show them folk some compassion?
edit: This isn't a personal attack. This is me trying to say a couple things: 1) Pick one side or the other - do you want titles to be easy or not? At the end of the day, all they do is go in our HoM 2) Don't dish what you can't take - a little compassion goes a long way.
Cheers.

If there are sufficient areas to meet the requirements of all of the cartographer titles without the restricted areas, why do we need to allow access to restricted areas? Is it just to avoid having to explore truly difficult PvE areas* and still get the title?
*You know the ones: They require a group of thinking people and not just henchies and heroes to explore fully.

So what you're saying is a RP character should be able to explore a PvP battlefield without the danger of actually having to engage in PvP to explore it?
Mithran, I always like to read what you write, but as a PvX player, I don't agree with that at all.

Not necessary. Why should they go through the extra trouble of doing this instead of more important things, when it's simple to do without opening any other areas. I got legendary cartographer with no textmod of any kind, just wall-walking. I had none of the old pvp arenas, and none of the new ones cause I didn't think to do it till I was level 20. Still I got 100% on every continent without even wall-walking every single area. Heck, in cantha I only wall-walked in 1 area because I ran through fa and jq, and got the monastery during a boardwalk weekend, giving me 100% very easily.

Guild Halls ARE PvP battlefields too, yet they can be visited.
Arenas are not always used to fight. They are usually cleaned and such.
You can visit an stadium where you are not a player and when there is no match going on.
This is exactly the same.
I can't understand how can anyone be against something that harms no one.
When you are inside the fight, there's no time to check how the terrain is and things like those.
A way to visit those areas out of battle is wise. Like the explorable versions of Mission areas in Factions and Nightfall.

When Sardelac starts getting more than 2 decent ideas a month I would consider /Signing more often.
As for "not affecting me", I suppose that's because I've only got a little to explore in Tyria for Legendary Cartographer? No. This title is easy enough as it is.

Hi. This is a video game, where *gasp* logic doesn't apply. I suppose we should have baths, houses, benches and a bed and breakfast while we're at it...
Oh, and loldetectiveillfated.

I'm not a troll, I just like to point out logically fallicies that prevent suggestions from being added (ie, if somebody makes a suggestion that would allow for an exploitation of game mechanics/harm the economy/are detremental to gameplay that the OP didn't forsee, I point that out).
You, however just insulted me and was trying to stir up a hostile response. Thanks for coming to my defense Illfated Fat.

Like other titles, to max it takes grind. With things like texmod these days, its much easier these days anyway.

There are many arenas that do not count for any Carthographer title.
And the % that the arenas and other PvP areas that do count is really small.
The benefit of being able to roleplay and get to know those areas outside battles is way greater than any downside it would bring... and, well, that's not hard, since there is NO downside.
